Welcome to Lyons Jewelers, where our Mission is to "Make you Happy". Since inception we have tried with all of our heart to accomplish this goal, and with GOD's divine help we will strive to maintain the high standard that we have set for ourselves. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to fulfill our Mission: "Make you Happy".
Our store was opened in 1998, by R.T. Lyons, whose family has lived in Bedford for five generations, but never worked in the jewelry business. R.T. was 15 years old when he was hired at Glassner's Jewelers (formerly Finks) which was located on the corner of Main and Bridge streets in downtown Bedford. Glassner's of Bedford was suddenly closed in 1987 when the executives at the top of the multiple store chain decided they only wanted thier stores in malls. Shocked by the reaction of the many loyal customers, R.T. , though only an 18 year old youth, determined in his heart that he would someday return and open a jewelry store of his own. R.T. feels that God allowed him to see the opportunity because even though he was inexperienced in the ways of business, he distinctly remembers saying to himself, "if this store ain't making money then somebody don't know what they're doing." So the seed was planted and he spent the next 11 years educating himself in business at Liberty University and working at other jobs in the jewelry business and attending conferences and trade shows, making contacts throughout the jewelry industry, obtaining degrees from the Gemological Institute of America. He established himself as an expert in the field of diamonds, including buying diamonds in Antwerp, Belguim on many trips. R.T. had many opportunities to advance in the business world and in the jewelry industry but he never forgot his dream to open a jewelry store in his home town. The people of Bedford were so warm and welcoming in the early days and they made R.T. so happy that he wanted to return some of that happiness to them. So he made it his mission; and to this day, his hairline may have changed, but his desire has not changed to stand by his mission: "Make you Happy".
